If you have any questions or concerns regarding anything, please feel free to write a comment in the home link book or pop into school and speak to any of us. Over the year, we will be using this webpage to post lots of useful and important information, such as home learning, useful websites and photos.
The topic this term is ‘To Market, To Market.’ The children will use a variety of methods (e.g. maps, Google earth, globes and internet research) to find out about Oswestry as a market town. They will also explore local weather patterns as well as different climates all over the World. They will match fruit and vegetables to each content on a World map. They will also prepare questions to ask people about their memories of Oswestry markets a long time ago, such as a Grandparent. The children will create a ‘Then’ and ‘Now’ picture showing Oswestry market and will consider why Oswestry was chosen as a market place a long time ago. In Art, the children will explore the work of artists such as Giuseppe Arcimboldo and they will create a portrait of themselves using skills and techniques practised in their self-made sketchbooks. In DT, the children will explore, design, make a healthy vegetable soup and then evaluate their product. In Music, they will listen to a range of music from around the World (and sing songs linked to the topic) and will learn about the layout of an orchestra. The children will regularly use computers and will learn how to stay safe when using the internet, by following the SMART rules.
Homelink books: These must be handed in every morning so that we can receive any important messages or to record if your child has read.
Reading - If your child has read three times or more a week their name will go into a chance box. They will then be in for a chance of winning a Meadows School bookmark and a pencil!
Forest School - The children will need to bring warm clothes, waterproof coats, scarves, gloves, hats and wellies to wear in the forest. The children will be split into two groups.
