Class timetable

This is general timetable for the Autumn Term. This may change some weeks due to other factors. If there are any changes to PE, we will notify parents.

Topic

Our topic this term is the Vikings.

Our topic focus will be the Vikings. We will look at who the Vikings were; how they came to Britain and when they invaded. The children will use maps to locate the continents of the world and the countries and capital cities of Europe. They will then map out the homeland of the Vikings.

PE lessons

PE lessons will be on Mondays and swimming lessons will be on Tuesdays this term. 

PE Kit / Jewellery

On P.E. days, all children will be coming into school in their PE kit. Please ensure that children are wearing the correct kit i.e.

White socks

Navy Tracksuit bottoms when it is cold

Navy plain hoody

Trainers not pumps

Music - Brass lessons

In Puffins and Kingfishers classes, the children are lucky enough to have a professional music teacher who visits the class each week and teaches them trumpet. Trumpets will be allocated to each pupil in the first few weeks of the new term.

• Music lessons will be on a Friday morning. Once children have an instrument this will need to be in school for the lesson. Regular practise at home is encouraged.

Year 4 Multiplication Check

In early June 2027, the Year 4s will be doing their 'Multiplication Check'. They are given 6 seconds to answer times tables questions up to 12 x 12.

It is therefore really important to try to find time at home for your child to practise their times tables as practising them frequently is the only way to establish fluency in this area. Please ensure your child is practising their times tables frequently at home using TTRockstars.

We are of course practising these in school, but time and resources are limited and so individual practice at home is crucial.

• Numbots - Great personalised games and tasks to develop 'number sense' and arithmetic fluency.

• Hit the Button Great, simple times tables practice.

• MTC Practice A great website to practise a times tables test with a short amount of time for each question. This is similar to the statutory 'Multiplication Check' which all Year 4 pupils undertake in June each year. This website gives you 10 seconds for each question, whereas the 'real' test is only 6 seconds! This is also the webpage we use to assess the pupils' times tables each half term.

• Mathletics Maths task may be set as homework on Mathletics.

• Spellzone Practise games and activities for the weekly spellings.

• Read Theory Practise reading and comprehension as often as you like. Log in and it will give you reading activities at a suitable level. Request your child's login details if interested.
